A year on the road: My experience as a Solo Female Traveler
One year! I can’t believe it! I think I didn’t fully realise that my travelversary was so close until I woke up this morning and saw the date on my phone. On July 23rd, 2016 I was sitting in an Uber, terrified and with absolutely no idea of what was about to come. Today, I’m sitting in a yoga retreat in Croatia, a little bit less terrified and still with no clue on how my life is going to look like next year. However it has been one hell of a ride and from that day onward, I haven’t regretted becoming a Solo Female Traveler.
I won’t lie, it hasn’t been always easy or enjoyable. I have cried, I have wanted to go home, I have wanted not to go home. I’ve been homeless, I’ve almost being deported and recently I fell into the sea and drowned my camera. However, if I could time-travel back to 2016, I would still get into that Uber.
When I started my Solo Female Travel adventure I promised myself I would last at least one year on the road. Now I’ve not only reached that goal, but I’m also happy to say that I’m still going to be travelling until the end of the year. After that… Who knows? But I’ll keep you posted.
Some Facts and Figures
I didn’t really know how to celebrate my travelversary. What do people usually do? Get hammered? I have a flight to catch tomorrow and I don’t want to be writing a post on how to survive a trip with a hang over for next week. So, I decided to make a small infographic which collects some of my experiences as a Solo Female Traveler. So have a look, laugh for a bit, drink a beer in my honour and tell me some of your crazy travel experiences.
Happy travelversary to me! Don’t forget to comment and share the love! Oh, and, before you go, don’t forget to check my opening video to see how all this started!
I guess I’ll see you on the road.
Love,
